Officially announced in 2005, the Boeing 747-8 is a wide-body commercial airliner currently in development by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The freighter model is scheduled for a 2010 delivery, and the passenger model is set for a 2011 delivery. It’s the latest evolution of the 747, with a longer fuselage, new wings and better efficiency. Curtiss-Wright Controls also produces the fire protection systems and rotary position sensors that Boeing has relied upon for so many of its aircraft.
