The Boeing CH-47 Chinook’s unique twin-engine tandem rotor configuration makes it one the fastest heavy-lift helicopters in the world. Its top speed of 170 knots allows it to move troops, place artillery and resupply battlefields with unmatched speed. This speed and heavy-lift capabilities result in great loads on both rotors. Curtiss-Wright Controls torque sensors monitor these heavy loads to allow the CH-47 to safely and successfully carry out its missions. The Chinook also carries the helicopter threat warning system from Curtiss-Wright Controls. This system solution alerts the crew when enemy radar targets the rotorcraft.
